My family room entertainment center!
After years of resisting the temptation to buy a larger, more modern TV, we finally succumbed and purchased one. My significantly better half could tell you lots more about it but so far it's just a damn big black screen. I think it needs a really cool screen saver to "save" us from the black hole it's created. As you can see by the photo, we need to create a space for it. Others might have created the space, THEN bought the TV but not us. The TV now motivates us to get rid of the old shelving and storage and create something new. How long that will take is anyone's guess.
In the cupboards underneath we have stored a cassette player (an antique), a turntable(another antique but making a comeback), DVD player, receiver, and vinyl albums, lots of them. We have huge numbers of CD cases. Cases, because in an effort to find a CD or two I rarely come across a case with a CD inside. Where did they all go? Maybe they paired up with the socks lost in the wash. Anyway, for now the look is less modern more "receipt of stolen property".
On with the story. The TV arrived yesterday. After a quick dinner, the games began. I knitted and listened to a book while my erstwhile better half installed the black hole. It wasn't too bad until he tried to set up the features. Now we need The Boy to come and help us with our Smart TV. Of course we have two remotes. The one that came with the TV has a keyboard that doesn't really work so far. There are also weird icons that come and go without apparent cause. So not that smart!
Finally about 9pm, we sat down to watch it. OMG! So clear and so close. The resolution is fantastic and after our old TV it's like being in a movie theater. So, Cinemark, take your $11.25 movies and..... well you know.
